A Little More Info...
Welcome! Whether you’ve stumbled upon my virtual realm in search of academic insights or journalistic antics, get ready for a ride. (And they say, “not all who wander are lost” – HA!).
Since 2017, I've been haunting the hallowed halls of higher education as a sociologist, teaching critical media studies, feminist theory, environmental justice, and DEIJ (diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice). I’m also a qualitative researcher who specializes in ethnographic methodology. Each subject I teach weaves into a narrative driven by a hunger for understanding and change.
Along my academic journey, I found love in the art of storytelling. Cue the dramatic music and sudden plot twist— I took a leap into the unpredictable realm of journalism, enrolling in a graduate program at NYU while adding ‘freelance journalist’ to my resume. Who needs sleep when you can power your creativity with coffee that can rival rocket fuel, am I right?
I hope my work inspires change and pushes the world to be more equitable…and human!
Now, for some unsolicited personal details: I like the outdoors and hiking, but I absolutely loathe exercising. When I do have a free second, you can find me with a good book or secretly pursuing my passion for playing the banjo.
In the beautiful mosaic of my life, I’m a proud mom and a sister. My 7-year-old, the real MVP of my chaotic adventures, keeps me wonderfully tired. Thanks to him, I can theorize Minecraft, LEGO, and Roblox with the best of them. My sister and best friend, who happens to have Down Syndrome, is my partner in crime in all of things mischievous. It is through her and our unwavering bond that inspires both my push for social justice and my perspectives on the beauty of diversity.
“You have to act as if were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time.”
Angela Davis
